| I have been teaching in Thailand for a little over 7 months. During that time I was able to finish up my Masters in Education in the States. I have heard various answers, but what should I be earning as a salary given that I have a Masters in Ed.? Is there a place I can find out, or does anyone know from experience? |

In general terms, it may help you secure a good job but will not always increase yr salary unless you use it for promotion on the career ladder (e.g. non-EFL Deputy Head of School) in a western-style school.
I have another masters and work at a "leading university". My salary is based on annual increases for time served. A guy with an MEd earns the same as me. A girl with an MEd takes less because she is "newer". I earn more than most Thai PhDs.
It may well be that in an international school, where the money is good, an MEd will give you more chances than a BA--but equally, some High/Int Schs want Certified Teacher Status or PGCE...that you can teach teens. I don't have that status, despite teaching in UK, Spanish and Thai universities for 17 years.
An MEd is generally a good thing, but in public unis the salary is fixed and based on academic rank, for Thais...and all farangs get the same scale except for the odd "expert" status guy or visiting prof.
Some schools give you extra, say 5000b a mth, for any masters, so that someone with one will take 40,000 but BAs will take 35,000 (for example).
