I have just seen a vacancy with this company and I was wondering if anybody had any information.

I tried a search but nothing came up.

Many thanks.

Good Luck.

SRS is a London based recruiter. I'm in Libya right now, working for a gas company and have no idea who their client is. I know people at most of the major oil companies here.

I looked at the ad some time ago and the money looks good...but it isn't a rotation and that's important when working in Libya, unless you can bring your family with you.

That said, your wife would get bored as there isn't much to do.

I like it here in Libya, but it's the rotation that makes it all worth while.

sharter,

Many thanks for taking the trouble to reply. You're a gentleman and a scholar - there aren't many of us left these days.

As regards SRS, I had a look at their snazzy little website and the only relevant name that I could unearth was Jawaby.

With regard to this particular post, it's now academic as far as I'm concerned as SRS have just got back to me to say that their client has set a strict age limit of 50. I'm 52 - and with all my own teeth and everything - but it was not open to negotiation. So if anyone else is interested, there doesn't seem to be any 'wiggle room' on this one.

I would love to work in Libya again as I've worked there before and found it far more interesting than the increasingly westernised Gulf States. I quite agree with you about the rotational aspect and would be very interested to hear of any suggestions you might have.

Perhaps we could pm sometime.

Cheers.

PS

No question of taking the missus out there - I returned her to the wild some years ago.

Good Luck.

I know this is an old thread, and old news, but I had dealings with SRS last June.
There was a flurry of emails and phone calls from the agency in London, and a job offer was made.
Suddenly, a few emails went unanswered, and after a few days, I was told that the client (NOC) had changed the goal posts and decided the teaching position would be based in the desert. As I was a woman, I would not be given the job. I was 54 at the time, and age was not a problem. I was told that it would be viewed in a positive light, as the students would be adults.
I wonder if anyone else had dealings with the agency and got a different story?

I keep seeing the Serte Oil Company advertisements on several job boards. It sounds like a good deal. Ive seen negative posts from several years ago, but not much recent information. I would appreciate any and all accurate current information on this outfit, or any leads on similar jobs, i.e. fairly well paid rotations in oil camps, etc. Thanks.

I was interviewed by them last year and the salary they mentioned for working in Libya was 21,000 pounds a year. Not worth it!
