Hey everyone, Can anyone tell me some good reputable schools in Guangzhou? I would really appreciate any help that I can get. I am new to the ESL world and I just trying to do some research before I come to China. If anyone can help me, please send me a PM or just make a post here. Thanks to all.

Duane8769: Let me help you a little with your questions. You asked about a salary range to live comfortably in GZ. You gave no details whatsoever as to what "comfortable" means to you. I mentioned 12K RMB/mo because that would be the bare minimum to provide me with what I consider a comfortable life. Eating fried rice thrice daily and drinking water whilst taking advantage of public transportation only and living on-campus means you could make do with 4K RMB/mo.
Reputable schools? What is your definition of reputable? Any school can take advantage of you if you let them. Conversely, being a hard-a$$ will test the patience of the administration of even the best schools. Speaking of admin...private schools (and some chains) change management frequently and thus how employees are treated also changes. A great school two years ago could be hell-on-earth today and a hell-on-earth two months ago could be heaven today.
You haven't mentioned your educational background, degree(s), or experience. To get the coveted FRP, you need a degree, two years teaching experience AND you must be a native English speaker from Canada, U.S.A, U.K, Australia or NZ.
Before Sir Laurence jumps on me for not answering your question directly...my college is very good, but not hiring (and the starting salary is going down). You could choose Wall Street (long hours, weekend and promotional work) but you'd have to meet their age and aesthetic requirements. EF, same as above minus the age and aesthetic requirements. Unis will pay up to 8K (d.o.e) but you may find yourself out in the boonies. There's a private college that starts you at 12K RMB/mo but the management is tyrannical at best.

Please provide more specific details in your questions and it will make helping you and others a lot easier.

Cheers!
