I thought of posting this as I realized too many foreigners did not know about this.
If you have a gaijin card since February 1 that you have not surrendered, you can make the application for free cash handout of at least 12,000 yen. Deadline for Shinjuku ward is 6 Aug. Other wards may have different deadlines.

ITS NOT TOO LATE. The scheme says 6 months from the implementation date in your ward which could be early February to March 2009. Tell the ward office - this is your entitlement and they may just relent even if the deadline is over by a few days.
Also, this is not taxable and you can get it regardless of how much you earn. Some with family of 3 children can get up to 84,000 yen free money!!!
Its a pity many do not take full advantage of this cash handout. If you have sent the application, check your bank accounts in case there was a mistake and there is still time for you to make ammends. |
