Hello I'm new here and I joined specifically to ask a few questions. I'm interested in teaching in China around Spring 2010. But for now I would like to know when is the best time to start applying for a job online? I will finish school in December so should I be trying to get a job before I graduate or do they want to see that I already finished. |

November seems like a good time to apply for a job for the spring. The FAO usually has their hands full with the FT's that just started in September for a month or two, and it usually takes a little while for FT's to flake out on the job or not commit to the next semester etc. |

At universities/colleges, they begin second semester mid February. They leave on holiday mid-end of Jan. They normally will ask the teachers whether they plan to continue teaching in mid-November and should know by certain end-November, early December.
Private companies usually hire year round. International schools usually hire in January-February. |

I was in the same boat a couple years ago; I sent out applications around November and started work at the end of February. |

Does OP understand that there are 12 month and 6 month contracts?
The majority of hiring is for late August early September start and because of the air ticket refund deal I would say most sign for 12 months. These teachers depart or re-sign in July.
The hiring that is done for February start is generally top-up in my experience.
Having said that, my first gig was Feb start, but the college was cr*p and could never get enough FTs anyway. |

Most state sponsored schools will want to see a copy of your graduation degree diploma. Therefore, you probably will be a little late for the February Semester; although the bad jobs will always be there. |
