I'm thinking of applying for a job in Saudi Arabia and I've read a lot of posts here to try and see what is good and what is not. I don't have the qualifications to get into one of the universities, so I'm looking lower down the tree.

What I have realised is that almost without exception the franchise operations seem really bad (IH has a bad press there) and the Bell seems to have its own operation there, but doesn't have a good write up.

At the moment I'm looking at 2 adverts one of which is the European Centre, which are advertising jobs in various locations.

The second is in Jubail at the Energy Industries Training Centre.

Can anyone give me any information / advice regarding either of these - has anyone worked for either of these two.

Any information appreciated.

The Good, the bad and the downright ugly contractors or language centre to work for.

Do a search for the European Center or EC.

You'll find some information.

well let me say this. I was offered a contract there. They offered me ok money but less than what universities are offering but they didnt want to pay enough money for housing allowance in Jubail. I will say this about any place you work whether its in America, Britian, Saudi Arabia, China, India, Bahrain anywhere you will not like something. I complained about my job until i realized this. Everyone here who works in Saudi will have problems with their company. Some of them are worse than others. You just need to weight them on a case by case basis.

Yeah, I agree there's no perfect employer. I tried a few beofore I realised this -even tried me - but I was a lousy boss - made me work long hours with low pay and not enough breaks, forgot to do the tax, medical insurance...what can i say - i fired myself Exclamation

Thanks for the European Centre advice - they aren't looking too good as I suspected. The other place (EITC Jubail) doesn't seem to have very much of a profile and I can't see much said about them.

Grendel, which one were you referring to?

I agree with spotz, though, that there is something wrong everywhere and there is no perfect job mainly because 'the grass is allways greener . . .'
