Right now as of 5:50 pm it seems to be unblocked, but it was earlier today!

I can confirm that it was blocked. I for one sent a request to the Censors to unblock it. The LORD is GRACIOUS, al-hamdulillah !

Oh Finally, (Duh!) man it was blocked for more than two days for sure, I've been trying it today finally it didn't block me out...
However, as an alternative try downloading 'Ultra Surf' that will help overtaking the filtration process and takes you right on to all the sites that are otherwise blocked Wink

@NCTBA - here are a few more and are surely not blocked Wink hope this helps

GTunnel is a Windows application that works as a local HTTP or SOCKS proxy server, developed by non-profit organization Garden Networks (http://gardennetworks.org/), which was made for people to access Internet content blocked by totalitarian countries such as China and to protect Internet users online privacy and security.

FirePhoenix (FP) is a software to protect your privacy and identity when you surf the Internet. It effectively encrypts all your Internet traffic and anonymizes your IP address. In addition, it provides you with unrestricted access to Internet when your Internet connection is filtered, monitored or blocked by your company, your institution, your ISP - http://firephoenix.edoors.com/cms/download.html

You can download the up-to-date GIFC Anti-Censorship Tools Bundle which includes few popular client software packages from following official website:

Maybe it has to do with my own network settings or whatever, but quite apart from all this 'bloked/unblocked' thing, I find Dave's to be quite unreliable in KSA.

I would estimate that about half the time I click on any dave's thread, I get a page saying it's 'unavailable' (not the same thing as blocked btw) and often have to click several times before the page appears. Can be very annnoying when you want to post a thread and get an 'invalid session, please resubmit the form' message. Also, I find I have to enter my login details nearly every time I access the site, even though I've ticked the 'always keep me logged in' button.

Anyone else had similar problems?

My experiences have been different. I can nearly always get Daves and the speeds seem to be much faster than other similar sites I access.

(I mean www.mad-dog-forum.com, and www.insanescotsgettogetherforfriendlybanter.com. Also
www,taking themickoutoftheenglish.com)

Cleopatra is on one side of KSA. I am on the other. Although of course in many other matters we are very close.

I have gone through periods like that - 2 or 3 times a year - even here in the US and at certain times of the day it will be very slow to open and time out. I think it is related to the phpBB system.

But if this happens more often to you, but not Scot, it sounds like it could be your system adding to the problem. Of course, what I know and understand about the tubes and traffic jams of the internets and the functions of the boards is slim.

Arabia clamps down on bloggers, news sites, others
Publishing to the web now requires a licence
03 Jan 2011 14:46 | by Dean Wilson in Dublin | posted in Internet

Saudi Arabia is beginning a major internet clamp-down, starting with blogs, forums, news sites, personal websites, electronic archives, chat rooms and online ads.

New regulations were approved by Dr. Abdulaziz Bin Mohee Al-Dien Khoga, the Minister of Culture and Information, which will require licences for the operation of an e-publishing site within the country when the laws come into effect in a month's time,

Anyone who writes on a blog, online newspaper, or similar form of electronic publishing will be required to meet the following obligations: they must be a Saudi national, over 20, hold a high school or higher qualification, be of good conduct and behaviour, and hold an appropriate licence given by the Ministry.

Editors must also receive special approval by the Ministry in addition to obtaining a licence, while all licence holders must publicly display their licence information on their website. The licence will last for three years, by which time a renewal will need to be sought. Exceptions to these rules can be employed at the discretion of the Minister.

As part of the application process web users must supply information about their web hosting, data which will presumably be used to take non-complying sites offline.

Failure to comply with the new regulations can result in a number of penalties. The user will be ordered to correct the content of the website, or, in other words, remove the offending material. They will need to pay a fine, they may be required to pay compensation to an individual in addition to the fine. And finally their website may be partially or fully blocked, for either a period of time up to two months or indefinitely.

Saudi Arabia said that this does not constitute a breach of freedom of speech and said that it will act in a transparent manner in the conducting of the new laws, but the news is likely to upset a lot of bloggers and web users in the country.

Does not constitute a breach of the freedom of speech. Right.

As I've mentioned, with my proxy, my IP address shows up as being in the US.
