I've been offered a position by this company, English International. I've looked at their website and tried searching for feedback but I cannot find anything.
I've just been refused funding for university and I'm looking for a teaching position for the next year. I was due to study TESOL and don't want to waste a year doing a mundane job. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!
Website link is http://www.englishinternational.info/index.htm

I perused the website, and it seems to be just a lot of grandiose talk about basic ESL pimping. I especially loved the "Click Here to Apply," and then all you get is a telephone number and a "good luck!" message. Much ado about not much, IMHO.
I always suggest applying to schools directly as much as possible. Recruiters make lots of false promises and gum up the works, in general. They're mainly just looking to collect fees from ESL employers off the back of unsuspecting and gullible newbies. |

As an FT manager, I echo everything SFP says. Try to avoid any kind of middleman if at all possible and deal direct with schools. Do as much research as you can, ask to be put in touch with other FT teachers at the school and remember that a telephone interview (please don't take on a job without speaking to anyone) is as much about you choosing as school as it is about them choosing a teacher.
Hope that helps and good luck. |

Also very very careful over which FT's you talk to - those FT's that are in hiring positions, DOS's and other so-called FT managers have been known to be just as devious as their employers - we've seen cases here at Dave's where these FT's come in and defend schools over badly wronged FT's.
Make sure when you talk to that contact FT that you're getting the real word from the teaching front-line and not a HR dancing monkey |
