Hi everyone,
This is my first post so I apologise if this subject has ever been raised or discussed before but I am wondering if anyone can vouch for an organisation called student guardian UK. It appears a small but genuine organisation that helps graduates in finding teaching jobs within China.
I have contacted a lady named Joyce Chow, who appears to be the sole person running the operation and for which she was prompt and courtious in her responses. Furthermore I have the read the testimonials on the website and contacted some of these folks directly who all strongly promoted the scheme and oganisation. I was hopeful someone out there may have had some direct experience with student guardian UK and could inform me of anything I should be aware of.
Kind regards and many thanks in advance for any replies. They will all be greatly appreciated. |

I have just looked at their website and it looks amateur. For the record I am British. The website is not particularly explicit in what the organisation does or how it does things. I am concerned that they seem to somehow 'look after' Asian children if they are sent to study in the UK but there is no obvious signs of affiliation, accreditation or regulation.
Where children are concerned in the UK if they are not registered up to the hilt, they are in very dangerous waters.
The website just strikes me as nice and completely unprofessional. If you are looking for work in China, I think you'd be better off asking for opinions on cities and schools on this forum.
Never pursue a job where a telephone interview is not offered. Confirm that you will be paid for contracted hours (and not just the hours worked if through no fault of your own are under hours). Confirm that your passport WILL NOT be held by the school and will remain with you at all times (other than for possible visa applications) and ask for these points be part of your employment contract. |

never persue a job if you can't get into contact with a former or current FT working for the same employer - many potential employers will give you a lot of promises, without being full prepaired to keep them.
And Chinese contracts - they can be used as a guidline for arguments on pay and conditions - but for most FT's, if they hit crunch-time - those contracts are useless.
Remember always try and contact an FT who's in the know - if your recruiter/potential employer tries to withhold contact info - it could be a good idea to dump |
