Hi, I was wondering if anyone has worked/traveled to this city in China and I was wondering what it's like and if it's a decent place to work in China. |

Yuncheng is in my opinion a 2nd tier Chinese city.
In summer it's about 35 centigrade on a hot day, but in winter the outside temperature can drop to well below -10 outside.
There are already quite a few FT's teaching there from all over the world, mostly in public junior and senior high schools.
Your rent-free apartment will most probably have central heating, but inside it'll be a few degrees or so above 0 in winter, so you'll need an electric heater and an electric blanket to keep warm.
There are supermarkets and street markets. The cost of living is reasonable and the locals are friendly. So are the Chinese pupils on the whole. 5000 Yuan/month will serve you well as a salary for around 20 teaching hours/week. |
