Greetings.
Im currently living and working in a fairly small town in central Mexico. Ive been here for a little over a year and am trying to find a job in Monterrey (or Guadalajara). Im currently teaching both in the programa de licenciatura en la enseanza del ingls and ESOL classes. I have my MA in TESOL and 2 years experience (1 1/2 in Lic. classes) all at the university level. What Im trying to do is find out where good places to work would be and how I can get into contact with some of the schools there.
If you have any suggestions as to where to work, where not to work, or how to contact schools, please let me know.
Thanks. |

Since you have a masters in TEOSL, try:
www.itesm.mx and choose the Monterrey campus.

i agree, and it's not just because i work there already (at the veracruz branch, which is tiny compared to the monterrey branch). the atmosphere here is great, totally friendly and professional at the same time, politics but not too too bad, high salary, comfortable, decent students, though they can be really lazy and a bit aloof..... well, i like it for the most part.
i applied all over the place, including puebla (but not including monterrey). i was offered a spot in UPAEP, i think (in puebla). so, to the person looking for something in puebla, if you are interested i could dig up the director's email address and any other info they sent me. there is also a brand new branch of ITESM in puebla, if you have an MA and are interested in working there.
good luck to all job seekers...........(surely there must be a minor greek god for them)

Matt,
I would really appreciate the director's e-mail at UPAEP. You could PM me. Do you need a Masters to teach there? I was planning on trying the new ITESM in Puebla in a month or so when they will have a better indication of how many teachers they will need for August.
Thanks! |

Thank you to those who wrote to me. Unfortunately, after hours of looking, I havent been able to find the site for the English department or anything affiliated with it at the Tec de Monterrey, Monterrey campus. Does anyone have any info on that beyond just the general web site?
Thanks for any help. |

I looked over the website and managed to find information by clicking on the sitemap. It is under bolsa de trabajo. I don't know much Spanish, but it is fairly easy to figure out. I copied a link from that section of the website:
Informes: Lic. Sonia Jorge Gonzlez, Tel : 8358-20000, ext. 3927.
Correo electrnico: [email protected]
Good Luck!

I fondly remember the hours and hours I spent in the computer lab searching through ITESM webpages for anything that looked like an English dept. Some campuses are easier than others, but I do remember it as monumentally difficult, but worth the effort.
And now I will go look for that UPAEP info... |

hi again. i found some emails and sent things off, but im wondering if anyone has an idea of a timeline as far as hearing back from the schools. ill probably send my resume out again after semana santa because i know that schools here seem to always hire for the semester about a week after the semester has actually started. so if anyone can recall approximately how long it took to hear back from schools in monterrey id be interested to hear.
thanks |
