I was just wondering...
Are there any casinos in Taipei? What are they like? Any good poker games either at casinos or within expat/local communities?
What sort of tea do they serve at the tea houses? Should I bring any particular herbal tea with me that they may not have? (even though I'm guessing they have most)
Is it it easy to set up a bank account, do all English teachers need a taiwanese bank account?
Oh, and do they sell 32" leg jeans?

Hi Joseph, I may be wrong but I think casinos are illegal in Taiwan. I never noticed or heard of one in my time there. You'd probably be able to find an ex-pat poker group if you ask around there, or start one at your school.
Most of the tea is green and the different varieties of it. You can find pretty much every other kind of tea imaginable though. Jason's Supermarket has loads of really great herbal teas, but there are a lot of specialty shops.
You'll definitely be able to find trousers to fit you. Most places sell a fixed length of like 35" and then alter it right in the store for you to fit any length. You just have to find a waist size to fit you. |

Have you heard of Macau? I think it's an island on penisula off of the southern coast of China. Plenty of casino action there. |

Macau is the Vegas of Asia, it actually brought in more money than Vegas did 2 years ago and hasn't looked back since. It a cheap flight to Hong Kong then a quick ferry to Macau.
Taiwan is basically the tea capital of the world. Anything you want you can find, and it will be better than you expect.
Plenty of shops for all shapes and sizes. I'm 195cm tall, size 12-13 feet, and never had a problem finding clothes that fit. |
