I have the following:
- BS degree in English Secondary Education
- 4+ years experience teaching high school students
- 1 year university teaching experience
- Also have juris doctorate
BUT no ESL training!
I would like to find a job asap (preferably in Indonesia but would consider other countries). The biggest issue, however, is that I have a husband and three children that need to come with me. I am having a difficult time getting started with the process - have emailed several schools in Indonesia but no real response yet. The only replies I've gotten so far have said that I need to pay a fortune to enroll in ESL training courses before I'd even be considered.
Does anybody have any thoughts as to where I could find a teaching job that would not require additional certification and would enable me to bring my husband and children with me? I wouldn't expect my employer to pay for flights / visa fees for my family, but would hope they would help with the paperwork anyway...
I would be truly grateful for any thoughts or advice!!! |

If you haven't noticed it already, I have replied to your other posting (to the General Asia forum). In particular, note my comments re international schools.
Apart from China or Indonesia, you might also want to consider HK's NET scheme. Do a search via Dave's search facility if you want to know more about the NET scheme. You might also want to enquire about normal (ie non-NET ) primary/secondary teaching jobs not just in HK, but also in Singapore and Brunei.
