This is what Google tells me. You will not get much more than this as the school is due to open in September.
A new primary school in Doha following the National Curriculum of England has the following vacancy for September 2009:
Reception Teacher
An attractive financial package is available for candidates who exhibit a high degree of professionalism and expertise.
Loydence Academy is a new school which will open in September 2009 in Doha, capital of the State of Qatar. Initially, there will be classes for Pre-school, Reception and year 1, but eventually the school will expand to offer an education for the full primary range. It is planned that there will be a student population of 75 - 100 during the first year. Presently a large villa is being converted into the school. The numbers of students per class are relatively low.
We are looking for well qualified, dedicated and hard working teachers to apply for positions commencing September 2009. Experience in teaching the National Curriculum of England is a distinct advantage. Of course, as in any new venture, there will be teething troubles. We therefore require our applicants to show adaptability, flexibility and a sense of humour.
We offer:
One year contract
Annual return flights
Free shared accommodation
Free electricity & water
Qatar medical health cover
3 weeks gratuity per academic year |

It's a very small place operating out of a villa near the Khaifa Tennis Stadium and Qatar Club. I met a young teacher who's there. She's not very happy with the job, the salary or the school. The rooms are bedrooms and not big enough to hold all the kids. |

I know a number of parents who have their moved their children from the larger, better known schools to L.A. and they all seem very happy. The staff seems very dedicated and professional. The school currently accepts children from Pre-School to Year 2 but I have been told they are planning to open another campus in addition to the present one in the near future. |

One caveat... happy parents do not necessarily mean that it is good for teachers. Sabis schools are a perfect example. Arab parents LOVE it... teachers consider Sabis one of the worst employers in the Gulf.
Best to try to make contact with current or past teachers to confirm that it is acceptable for teachers too.

You are right - there are some very nice teachers who work there. I have met some of these ladies at a few parties; they are sincere, hardworking and very underpaid. Underpaid staff don't stick around for long! |
