Hi,
I'm a newbie on these forums, and to TEFL. I finished my TESOL in July this year. I'm currently living in Zawiercie, Poland and will be in Poznań from the 10th of August.
Will I be too late to find a job? I've been looking for any online vacancies in Poznań, but I have not found any advertised here or on TEFL.com (is this the norm)
I'm planning on going around the schools in person looking for a job once I get there. will I be too late to find work.
Would it be necessary to cold call any schools I can find online before I get there?
Any help would be greatly appreciated |

Since many people go on vacation July and August, I don't think that the schools even know what the demand is going to be until September. Maybe I'm wrong. That's how it is here in my part of the world. They sign up new classes the first couple week of September and then start.
So, IMO, I don't think the end of August is too late. In fact, it's when they are wondering...I'd get to them as soon as I could after getting to Poznan. Cold call, phone call, write emails, etc. |

I agree with what justflyingin wrote. You won't be too late.
If anything, you may be a arriving a bit before schools really start looking for teachers.
Directors of Study (the ones who do the hiring) may still be on vacation until early-mid Sept. |

I hope you're ready to be poor.
Poznan is expensive and the schools don't pay that much.
Go to Plac Wolnosci and Sw Marcin.......you've got Empik, English Unlimited, Profi-Lingua and Programme Bell,.........oh yeah Wisla Skola and Speak Up all within 300 metres of each other.
Y Poznan....chick?
Good luck. |

Thanks alot for the advice, will be checking all those places out when I get there.
Yep, my girlfriend is Polish although she grew up near Katowice. She's going to finish her university degree in Poznan.
Visited the city last year and really liked it, so I'm hoping I can earn enough to enjoy myself. |

Mattilib, as others said, August is Summer break so there's no call for teachers really at that time. But if you apply for work then, you should expect to get calls in Sept/Oct once the 'season' starts.
Best of luck! |
