I know this is a dumb question but, if you don't attach a photo on your resume, how will the Japanese know if you're male or female? I believe that I should not send a photo if the advertisement does not ask for a photo but I guess I truly don't understand how the system works in Japan. If I see an advertisement saying -- email/mail your resume. Does that mean that the resume should go with a photo? Does "resume" mean just "plain resume" or "resume with photo"? Ok, just like with the AEON application, they're only asking for an essay and resume. Will it work against me if I attach a photo on my resume when I apply to AEON? |

Japanese reviewers will know some English names as male or female, but not all. In my opinion, you should attach a photo (electronically if possible with a Word embedding function, pretty simple) to your resume. They're going to ask to see it anyway if you are accepted because it's required for the visa application and alien card. |

If they have their own application form and it does not ask for a photo, no need for one. But if they ask for a resume, you can usually assume that in Japan they assume a photo weill be included. It is certainly standard to include one in Japan. |

Don't send a photo to AEON. They do their recruiting following the western model. |
