I have heard it's especially difficult for ABCs to get teaching jobs at buxibans. So far I have done some research and the consensus is that Hess hires ABCs. Are there any other schools in Taiwan that will hire ABCs? Is it a lot easier to get a teaching job in China as an ABC? Thanks in advance. |

Hess aren't picky. They can't afford to be due to the HUGE turnover of staff. However, Western born teachers of Asian origin aren't exactly popular with the Chinese teachers. I know 2 that were racially abused at work and hounded out of their jobs. One of them was even abused by the school manager. I'd think twice about working there. |

Kojen also take ABC/CBCs.
Babar, you must have had some nasty people at your school. I would say that the overseas born Chinese teachers did well at my schools, in fact they were able to integrate more than us whiteys and probably got more of a cultural experience out of it. |

Since there are probably more jobs than teachers I would not be worried. It might be harder but there are plenty of ABCs with English teaching jobs. If you have a Taiwanese passport I would look into private high school jobs since foreigners are not allowed to work in a high school unless that are qualified teachers. Taiwanese can do so since they don't need a work permit. |
