Hi guys

I have a job offer starting in Feb, but I am going to be travelling for a couple of months before this then heading into China via Hong Kong. All the info from the Chinese Embassy says that the Z is only valid for 3 months and not to apply for it 3 months before entering the country.

I was hoping that I could have the school stipulate in their offer letter that the Z visa is to be collected in Hong Kong. Would this allow me to collect it on route and avoid heading back to London? Has anyone had experience of doing this and, if so, how reliable are schools at ensuring the letter stipulates anything specifically requested? Also, if the School puts London in the letter, will this prevent me from getting the visa in HK anyway?

Thanks!! Very Happy

i just got my z visa in hong kong. it's no problem, but you're right that the school has to write in the letter that you are to get it in hong kong. however, when you enter on a z-visa, you are supposed to apply to have it changed into a residence permit within 30 days of entry, so if your planning on travelling around much longer than that, you may need to get an l-visa first.
