Hi,

I am currently trying to decide which DELTA course to take and wondered if anyone had any experience of the following intensive courses:

IH Seville
IH Barcelona
CELT Athens
BKC Moscow

I would particularly be interested to hear what you had to say on tutor guidance and feedback esp. regarding teaching practice (basically, I suspect that the courses don't differ that much in terms of input, but that the real difference would be in the support given by the tutors and their availability given their own workloads - although I may be wrong?).

I have still not completely decided whether to go intensive or distance. I have heard that some tutors recommend the distance or part time courses over the intensive as they are less stressful and provide 'sinking in time', but I think face-to-face is better in terms of discussing ideas and seeing different teaching styles and approaches.

I am, however, also considering the distance modules offered by Bell as this includes a face-to-face module 2 at Bedgebury in the UK. Does anyone have any experience of this one - particularly in terms of discussion groups and support? Sadly, the IH/BC distance course doesn't provide a face-to-face option and getting a tutor out here would just complicate things and be expensive, which is a shame as I have heard good things about this option.

Any information you have would be welcome and if you have done a DELTA that isn't mentioned here, I would also be interested in hearing your opinion on that.

Thanks

P.S One final question. Do you think it is better to sit the exam straight after the course. Some are timed this way and with others you have to wait several months. Which do you think is better?

As I mentioned in the thread copied above, tutor guidance at IH Seville was really good. You get your money's worth. One tutor was a bit flaky though.

If you can afford it, go intensive and get it over and done with. It gets REALLY intensive, but for me that was a good thing in a way.

I know someone who's doing the Bedgebury option and he's happy with it.

It's an immensely rewarding course. When I say that you have to "get it over and done with", I'm referring to the intensity of it all. More than 9 weeks would have killed me!

The one in Seville is timed like this and once again, go for it and get it over and done with! Everything you've covered and all the exam strategies they give you will still be fresh and can be applied immediately. Centres that don't give adequate exam prep and strategies are often the ones with higher failure rates.
