Hello
I've just joined this forum. I'm a maths teacher in the UK and am considering the possibility of working abroad probably in the Middle East.
I'd be really grateful for any advice on how I can go about researching this. I've heard that the quality of schools is variable to say the least and there are some who have had great experiences whilst for others its been a nightmare.
In the short term, I'm considering the more immediate prospect of working in a summer school during the UK holidays in order to get a feel for this kind of environment.
Any advice on this as well (where to look, who to ask etc) would be very helpful.
Many thanks |

Is this to teach math? Are you a certified/licensed teacher? Elementary school or secondary school?

I don't know if they offer a summer school term in the GCC. Perhaps at one of the Indian schools? |

Sorry I should have given more detail. I teach maths at a secondary school and would be looking to do the same abroad as well.
I would also like to get an idea of the quality of the schools themselves. As I mentioned in my original post, there seems to be a mix of very good and very bad. |

To get a job at the good ones, you need whatever cert/license the UK requires for its better schools (or perhaps all... not familiar with the system there). I doubt that there is much of a market for summer school. During the summer, everyone that has the money gets the heck out of the heat.
You may also want to look at some of the university foundations programs around the Gulf. Places like HCT, ZU, and UAEU in the UAE hire math teachers to bring their entry level students up to speed working in English rather than Arabic.
