I have heard about the classroom student "Monitor" in Vietnamese classes.
What exactly is their role?
How are they chosen?
What are the responsibilities? |

My school doesn't employ monitors or teaching assistants. I have heard that other schools do, for very low-level classes. A corporate class may have one member designated by their employer to monitor attendance and make sure contract expectations are met; you may or may not be introduced to this person. If you are doing your job professionally, you'll never know they're there, or care. |

When I worked at a Vietnamese school the class student monitor(s) had several roles. Collect all homework, dust the blackboard at the end of the lesson, fold out the mats, give out flyers.... However, students had the role for an entire week on a roster basis. This was a public school though so they did this throughout the day, not just for 1 English lesson. A student monitor at a language school - I'm not so sure. |
