Need help making decision regarding 3 month trip to Turkey this fall.

I have to make an important decision regarding my 3 month trip to Turkey this autumn

I fly to Istanbul Oct 3 and should cross border to Syria (Aleppo) around Jan 1, 2010.

During this trip I want to spend 4-5 weeks in Istanbul to really get to know the place well, every corner if possible. Another reason is to find working as a language teacher.

The problem is how to order the trip (i.e. destinations, routes, weather, etc...)

I know Aegean and Med coast is best is October
I know Cappadocia is cold, and probably uncomfortable for walking in December
I know Turkey is big, and I don't want to waste time backtracking

My 2 options are

A) Spend October in Istanbul, November near the water, and by December wrap up Cappadocia, then enter Syria
B) Spend October in Aegean/Med coast, and finish Cappadocia by mid-November, and spend December in Istanbul

Option A is direct, and makes sense if going to Syria, but I fear bad weather in December (in Cappadocia)
Option B is better for weather (both near the sea, and Cappadocia), but Istanbul is rainy in December, and also there's quite a bit of backtracking with this option because I have to go BACK to Istanbul (from Cappadocia), and then back the other way again to Syria).

So what to do?

Well - you seemed to have answered your own question there! One thing I can say is that a good way to cross the border to Syria is to take a taxi from Gaziantep airport straight to Aleppo for - I think - 80 us dollars

B sounds better to me

good luck

finding work in Istanbul as a language teacher. Even if you lie and sign a contract and tell them you plan on staying "forever"...
The job market is really very tight, and a lot of places prefer hiring Turkish teachers these days for economic and visa reasons. Also, you only get paid once a month here, so you'll have to time it perfectly to collect your salary and run...
