This was discussed here not long ago... and it was said that the minimum requirement for Saudi is a BA.

Even if you found an employer willing to take you with no degree, the embassy would require you to have a degree for visa purposes.

Not completely true. You could come in on a business visa. I worked with guys before in Saudi in this situation.

However, one thing you can also probably anticipate is that your employer will be dodgy. But, if you don't meet the true minimum requirements, your choices are limited unfortunately.

I have a number of British and Canadian friends working in Saudi Arabia with no degrees and only certifications. They teach at private institutes though, not the universities. You'll do split shifts at those places, which is pretty rough, but one of my friends has been there seven years and supports his family.

Not sure how they got past the embassy. Maybe for private institutes they will accept the cert only, or maybe it was wasta. I'll have to ask them about that.

I'd say there's a few possibilities:
- They got the jobs as local hires - ie. they were in the KIngdom as dependent spouses and didn't have to go through the work visa process.
- They are on business visas being continually renewed (illegally)
- Their employer got them in on visas for 'staff' rather than 'teacher'. The embassy might not need to see evidence of a degree for this more lowly job category.

So yes, you're right it is possible to get a job as a 'teacher' without a degree, and maybe I should have qualified my first post to say this. However, no reputable employer would take you on without a BA - in fact, the better ones require MAs.

Well, I know these two in particular are on the work visas with iqama and have been, so possibility two is out. Three is very plausible in their situations, I don't know about one. They're good buddies of mine, I can always ask them the next time and post general information here about it.
