I am awaire that the Single enty NIB visa allows a stay of up to 90 days... does anyone know if there will be restrictions on my Multiple entry NIB visa which is valid for a year? or will i be able to land in thailand in october and stay for a whole year if i like?

Hope someone can help as the Thai embassy website doesnt say much nt he subject that i can see!

Hi da_wr

The multiple Non-B is simply as many "90 day" entries you want within one year, NOT a 1 year Visa. In order to get a 1 year Visa (extension on your original Non-B Visa), you will need to get a job that will organize a work permit for you (done in Thailand through the Ministry of Labour). *I would bring your original degree or an apostilled copy as the Ministry of Labour sometimes asks to see it. If you have time, you may want to get a criminal record check don in your home country as this is becoming a new requirment as well.* The work permit will be dated to coincide with your original Non-B Visa (expiaration on the same date).

Once you have your work permit, you can apply for an extension on your Non-B Visa for up to one year (done in Thailand through Immigration). Then you get to go back to the Ministry of Labour to get an extension on your work permit to, once again, coincide with you new Visa extension.

You will still need to "report" every 90 days to Immigration, and although this is a pain, all you need to do is bring a picture, fill out a simple form and sign your name (can also be done via the post and may be available through Internet soon...so they say).

I don't know of any other way to get a 1 year Visa as a teacher.

If you don't get a job before your original Non-B "90 days" expires, you will have to leave the country. The advantage of having the multiple entry Non-B is that you can simply leave and then re-enter to activate a new 90 days Non-B Visa rather than go to the embassy to do all the paperwork again. It is usually much harder to get a Non-B in Laos, Malaysia, Signapore, etc. than in your UK, USA, Can, etc.

Remember that your Visa is what allows you to BE IN Thailand, while your work permit allows you to WORK in Thailand (although the work permit is school specific, so if you change schools, you have to do it all over again)

Good Luck with your course and the job hunt MOD EDIT
