I didnt want to work in Thailand but some of my other plans didnt really pan out and its time to stop spending my savings.

I have an MBA from an American Uni and two years experience teaching in Korean hogwans. My biggest requirment is no morning hours. I'd also like to be teaching less than 20 hours a week, without prep time.

Is this possible with my resume? Can I get something at a Uni in Bangkok or something teaching Business English somewhere?

I don't think Thailand is a great choice if you are looking to not dip into your savings. It is possible with some of the better jobs, but many people are only able to save and/or get by comfortably because they earn extra on the side teaching privates (which would not fit your 20 or less hours goal). It is also possible if you are willing to live a modest lifestyle (there are many distractions in Bangkok, and Thailand in general, that can be a drain on your savings). The highest paying jobs almost always go to those that have certification in their home countries or at least have a B.Ed or PGCE and a little experience.

Most Universities do not pay well, but the top few are known to have good salaries especially after a couple years of service. These good Uni jobs generally have fewer than 20 hours and lots of holiday time as well. Are you looking to teach Uni English or utilize your MBA and teach business type classes? Do you have a CELTA cert. or at least a recognized TEFL/TESOL cert.?

I am not an expert on the Thai universities, but would guess good job openings are few and far between like the rest of the market right now.

Sorry to paint a negative picture, but as I have said before, I know quite a few certified teachers and/or those with lots of experience/Master degrees/etc. who are looking for good work and not able to find anything good.

With your quals (especially if you have a TEFL/TESOL cert.), have you thought about the Middle East somewhere? Seems to be lots of jobs there right now.

The problem with Thai universities is that even if you sign a contract with a low contact load (which is by no means guaranteed), many of them will require you to remain on campus for seven or eight hours per day and/or will load you up with compulsory overtime at unsociable hours. Some of them will require a fingerprint scan upon arrival and departure and I know of one private college which insists that faculty obtain written permission to leave campus - even if they are just going to lunch! There are exceptions of course, but it really is a case of caveat emptor. Do your due diligence before you accept a position at a Thai 'university'. I think the private language schools would be a better bet for part-time work, as you can be more selective about the hours and times you accept. Of course, in the latter case it would be very unlikely that you would get a work permit, which means perpetual visa runs.
