Hello all!
I am flying out a week on Tuesday and I have sent off my z visa application which will have arrived at the Chinese visa application service this morning.
How long does the visa application take by post and will I have my passport back by the time I fly out? Thanks for helping out a noob!
(I tried a search but found nothing) |

It depends upon the service you paid for. In the U.S., the Chinese consulate no longer accepts postal applications. You must go in person or use a courier service. The courier service can turn it around in two days or four days.
If you're in the U.S., if you send your passport via postal service, expect your passport back when somebody feels like sending it back.
Really.
Elsewhere? I don't know. |

I hope you paid more to have it processed quickly. I went through my travel agency again to process my visa this past Tuesday and he said it might take a little longer this time around (instead of the usually 4, maybe 5-6 days) because of the labor day holiday we had this past Monday (in the U.S). They do go to the consulate in person- I am not sure about postal.
Here's what I got from the website (from the U.S.):
1.The regular processing time is 4 working days.
2.Express service: 2-3 working days processing, $20 will be charged per visa.
3.Same day rush service: additional fees of $30 for 1 working day processing (applications presented before 12:30pm may be picked up between 2:30pm-3:00pm on the same day).
Here's a link for questions on postal: http://www.china-embassy.org/eng/hzqz/yisq/t169582.htm
It says processing time takes 7 days. |

If you go and drop it off, you can pay to get it back the same day ( in Canada anyway ).
The standard time they take is 4 days, but that wouldn't include delivery/mail to and then from the Chinese office. |
