Please take this as an initial report with more to follow as I find out more.
A new teacher who was supposed to be coming to the school where I work at was given the classic Chinese 'Bait and Switch.'
They were hired to supposedly work in Nanjing, through the Provincial government. With a recruiter in the middle.
Well, when they got to Nanjing after the four day induction into Chinese insanity, they were told they were being placed in Xuzhou. Not in Nanjing as the recruiter had lead them to believe.
I was wondering why the incoming teacher hadn't spoken with me or the other teacher here, prior to there arrival.
It's a classic story. Happens a lot this time of year. So, be warned. Nothing is as good as it sounds, especially here in lovely Xuzhou.
To anyone wishing to come to Xuzhou please email me. I will give you the low down on just how low down the ladder Xuzhou really is. I have been here 9 months.... that's three months longer then anyone else I've met.
Have a good night.
I will post more when I know it. |

Hi!
I do have some questions for you. Unfortunately, I don't have PM privileges yet, so I hope it isn't too much trouble for you to reach me by the email address in my profile.
Thanks! |

Sounds like what they sometimes do at the government college. They get their teachers to Nanjing and then ship them off to the boonies. Particularly those without specialized qualifications or "difficult" teachers.
Solution: Make sure your contract specifies your exact work location.
