I have been offered a job at a Saudi Uni and they want me to get all past references and all qualifications notarised by the Saudi Embassy in the US. Is this normal ? |
Sounds rather excessive to me. You do have to have your degree notarised by the Saudi embassy for visa purposes, but I don't see why your employer feels the need to have all your references/qualifications notarised.
If I were you, I would tell them that if they really want you to fulfill this requirement, it will take 8 weeks and you will therefore be very late for this term. See what they say in response. |

I have degrees, diplomas and certificates from France, England, Spain and USA and I did translate and legalized the ones that werent in English even though nobody asked me, I did provide them including a CRB check with the La Hague "Apostille"

Saudis have big egos. That's why there is so much archaic nonsense with medical forms and notarizing, certifying, authenticating, validating. Ask a Saudi what his job is. If he's a secretary, he will tell you, "Interior Left Cubicle Secretary for the Major Defense Unit in the Glorious Land of Opportunity for Initial Secretary Fulfillment."
And just wait to hear his title when he's promoted. |
