I am at single 27 year old woman who wants to teach in Costa Rica. Does anyone th,m ink this is a possibility?! I do not know where to begin, all i know is that I have a great love for costa rica and really want to teach there, and yet I fear that it is impossible. Does any one have recommendation about job hunting? I really want to be in Manuel Antonio. Many thanks!

If you take a look through the forum you will quickly learn that getting beach jobs is very hard, but possible. What specific jobs are available is hard to say, I haven't seen any job postings from that area in a while. But I know there is one or two private schools around there.

Well, there's Craigslist, La Nacion (online and Sunday editions, possibly Monday) and Tico Times you can look in:

Unfortunately the best way to get a job in Costa Rica (and generally throughout Latin America) is to show up at schools with your C.V. and pitch yourself. There are quite a few schools in San Jose and surrounding suburbs if you don't mind living in a city.

I work in San Pedro, a suburb of San Jose and there are three single women working here as teachers and I don't think they've had any more problems than the men. Crime is a real problem in Costa Rica, especially in San Jose. My wife and I were robbed three times in a six-week period this summer. And most everyone I know has been a victim of crime, thankfully almost all have been non-violent robberies.
