Malaria test... 500 dollars!
I have just spent 1,000 dollars through a no-insurance doctor for all the tests. Is this normal?
Now I'm terrified that something is going to happen where I won't be reimbursed, particularly having the job offer retracted. |

Yep..that sounds about right. The norm is that you WILL spend approximately $1,000 USD w/o insurance. The issue of being reimbursed with ALL receipts (medical and visa)...hmm let's pray about that. |

Dear gorkomi,
I have suffered those worries twice. Two contracts back, I shelled out $1300 for the medical exam, and wondered if I'd get reimbursed. I did because I had all the receipts, within a couple of weeks after my arrival in the KSA.
I spent $850 for the medical for my most recent contract. The cost decreased because the Saudis backed off on some of the more expensive tests, e.g. one of the AIDS tests (the Western blot). Still, I wondered if I'd be reimbursed. I was because I had all the receipts, when I received my first month's salary.
SAVE ALL YOUR RECEIPTS. YOU WILL NEED THEM. AND MAKE BACKUP COPIES. |

Oh that's good news! I'm sure everyone WILL save their receipts. Some of us might even be broke by the time we get there and will need that money |
