I know there are lots of ads for public school teacher positions advertised by Dewey and other recruiters. However, in previous postings, these recruiters has been bashed pretty badly. What no one seems to say though, is if not through a recruiter how does one get one of these jobs?
I am a certified teacher in the USA and would like to go to Taiwan to teach. I really wouldn't want to just "arrive" in Taiwan and try to get a public school job. Surely there must be a legit way to apply for these jobs. Does the MOE accept applications directly?
My wife is Japanese and we would both like to spend a couple of years or more in Taiwan before probably moving on to Japan. On a side note, are Japanese generally comfortable living in Taiwan? I have heard that Taiwan generally has a more positive towards Japan than Korea or mainland China. It looks like a public school job perhaps supplemented with some private students would provided enough income to live comfortably enough. |
