the VC picked up all my paperwork yesterday, seems i have passed the rigours of the DC consulate...with one small problem...the visa number that was assigned to me does not match with a DC consulate number nor does it indicate to which consulate this infamous number might belong. time line on 'fixing' this latest glitch--who knows?

has this ever happened to anyone out there before? any ideas on how long this may take? talk about a SNAFU--and just when i thought there couldn't possibly be anything else to delay! Evil or Very Mad Rolling Eyes Shocked

what a nightmare. if there is anyone already working in another ME country who knows that teachers are still needed, please PM and i will consider bailing and moving on.

thanks for listening, once again,
leez

Yes. Not exactly the same but a similar situation: I was assigned a number for a male teacher and the embassy would not accept the application. Luckily, the situation was resolved within a few days, I think it only took a few phone calls.

cleo,

i found out this morning that the mistaken gender issue came up on my visa last week, unbeknownst to me, but that goofiness only took a day to correct and get a new number. i have to think these mistakes are human input error and wonder whether a rush to get through the backlog is the issue. heaven forbid this error rate is the norm! Shocked

Error rates for almost any aspect of a job in Saudi Arabia? Experience would indicate that heaven hasn't forbidden it.

Kind of reminds me of the time my summer plane ticket was made out to

JOAN FLATTERY

When I asked them to change it, at first I was told, "Ma fi mushkila, Only two letter wrong."

I then explained to them why one of those two letters would require my getting a sex change operation.

Regards,
John

you veterans have been tooting this horn from the beginning only i thought there MUST be some exaggeration going on. okay, i'll bite and say my optimistic thinking has caused me distress at this point. i guess one must quickly learn how to cope with such inefficiences or be doomed to worry and stress.

still willing to speak with anyone who may know of openings some place OTHER THAN KSA! Very Happy

thanks,

There's a posting for jobs at Zayed Univ in the UAE on Dave's Cafe. You might try HCT in the UAE as well.

It looks as if the recruiter has sent the wrong number. They can fix this in less than a day, if they want to.

sj,

then why did the visa coordinator go on and on about calling the various consulates stateside and the time/effort that was going to take? she was relaying calls with long wait times, uncooperative consulte employees, hang ups...geesh, i wanted to offer to split the list with her! wouldn't she know that the number comes from the recruiter, hence a recruiter error?

i have no idea who knows what, is supposed to be doing what, who can fix what is wrong. does it sound like i'm going in circles? i yam, yes, i yam! Confused

thanks,
leez

Leez, the recruiter will have been sent the wrong number from the sponsor in Saudi. They are the people who can send the right number and fix it.
