This is an old story, and a dead story.

On May 21st, the Saudi appeal court threw out the original judgement.

The Saudi appeal court found that (A) the defence regarding the relationship between the defendant and one of the young men was sound, and was indeed, common knowledge in the community.

Secondly, the defendant's "house" was actually a tent, and so the encounter between the defendant and the two men had effectively taken place in public.

The Lady is now living with a married daughter in Riyadh.

Well, I wonder why WLUML is only interested in women living under Muslim laws, and specifically in the Magic Kingdom, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen?
What about Muslim and Christian women in the Israeli prisons?
What about Muslim women in France, Holland, Belgium and Denmark?

Actually the answer to his query was easy. In none of the countries in his question will you find a 75 year old (clearly menopausal) woman arrested and jailed for merely talking to men young enough to be her sons or even grandsons. Rolling Eyes

It is cases like this that give Saudi and Islam a bad name. I am glad to read that the courts found the arrest as unjust as any sane person would. I hope the sentences of the young men who were only trying to help a poor old woman were also reversed.
