Hi Everyone
The Saudi Cultural Attache finally confirmed (2 weeks before) that they have received the papers from UOH by post. Although I already provided them all the required papers when i saw them in person, they asked me to send them another copy which I posted 2 weeks from today by next day delivery. Since then I have not heard anything from them...I have tried to phone ....if I phone the main switchboard they give me the direct number for the person who is dealing with and if I phone the direct number no one answers it. I have emailed several times but no reply. Finally I have visited the university I have studied and my teacher confirmed that no requests for certificates verification has been sent to them yet!

I have tried to contact with UOH but again no luck! no email was replied, no phone was answered!

Is there anyone in the same boat like me? or can anyone tell me what to do? what if the university term starts? will i be still able to join?

Does the embassy contact the university? I have applied via the London embassy several times, and this has never been the procedure - instead, I submitted a copy of my degree stamped by the uni and the MFO. Of course, procedures can and do change.

Getting through to the embassy can be frustrating in the extreme. I would say give up emailing completely and be extremely persistent in phoning them. If this fails, go in person if it's at all possible.

Hi Cleopatra
I dont know if the process has been changed recently but I am sure the documents now have to be verified by the Saudi Cultural Attache and once that is verified the cultural attache will provide a forwarding letter for the embassy to issue the visa.
I didnt know this procedure until my passport was given back by the embassy for not having the forwarding letter upon verification of certificates by the cultural attache.
I also had to provide consent letters (addressed to the university I studied) for the verification service by the cultural attache.
Finally I live far away (in north wales) from london and it takes about 5 hours by train from my home to the attache, if nothing is done, it will be wasting of time plus money.....may be now u know how i feel....

Now that is a new one... I have never read here of that procedure being required by any Gulf embassy for any education job.

Maybe there is a huge back log of applications with the cultural office. There are far more teachers coming into to KSA than previous years.

Well, your teacher has nothing to do with certification of your university degrees, it is the registrar of your university who is reponsible for this task. In addition, you do not need to go to the university, the process could be done through a solicitor for a fees, and then you should take your university qualification to be certified with the foreign office before you take it to the Saudi cultural bureau.

If you want to accelerate the process you need to go in person and spend at least 3 to 7 days in London (try to rent in a hotel/hostel which is near the Saudi consulate) and finish the process for once. And do not forget the medical file, it is the one which will consume most of your time.

Good luck.

Hi 007
I know its the registrar office who is responsible but the teacher I visited has access to the registrar office......(is laison the right word?) and assured me that he will make sure it is done withing the same day they receive it by post or fax......
I am not sure if they will accept it if i do it through a solicitor.....i dont mind paying extra for that if that was the case but I think now it has to be done by the attache........the problem is no1 tells you the right thing at the first stage........it is now given to them anyway so point to go to a solicitor now....too late.
my gp filled in the medical form and it has been authenticated by the office in Milton Keynes as I was instructed.....so hopefylly fingure crossed about it!

well i applied for the visa after striving for the documents for months (as you know from one of my other posts that I had to do all steps twice may be twist of fates). I was told that the visa shall be processed in 2 working days its going to take about 7 working days thanks to a holiday and the passport incharge guy in Canberra being somewhere other than on his seat in his office.

May we all get what we want and keep us away from this bureaucracy.

Yep, jumping through the bureaucratic hoops before you get to KSA is just a tiny test to see if you'll be able to make it through the BIG bureaucratic BS that you have to face once you arrive. Sad

Man I am so very not looking forward to the repeat or amplification of what I have seen in the Embassies and their processes. I do not want to have nervous breakdown over and over again. Smile

Hope for the best .. jump in the river Smile

Well, the bureaucratic process in the Magic Kingdom is a sinusoidal function which varies with your employers parameters and your nerve hormones!
One remedy to lower the state of your nervousness is to take a glass of hot non-skimmed Camel milk mixed with Zangabeel! Laughing

Well guys today is the big day. I was told by the embassy that they shall stamp the visa today and post it through courier. I tried ringing them at 10 min past 9 but no one picked up the phone (very Nice !!!) Lets see if by mid day I hear from them.

P.S. A lot of friends and relatives of mine have started to say ... why dont you find a job here in Australia rather than going to KSA .... why so much tension?

I have no answer. May be its Sunk-Cost Effect that I want to keep popping money into the slot machine rather than give up and invest in some nice cuppa tea or coffee.

Cheers fellas.
Peace out \/

Our friends and relatives will NEVER understand why we want to go to Saudi Arabia. Other countries, yes...but the reasons for going to the Tragic Kingdom will never make sense to them. I gave up trying to explain even before I went, and when I came home on vacation, I just avoided the topic. They're just certain that you will always be seconds away from a terrorist bomb, or that shrapnel from Iraq or Afghanistan will somehow make it over to you... Confused
