ADVICE NEEDED: I'm tentatively planning a train trip - going by ferry from Korea to Shanghai, China to SE Asia. Anyone see any problems here? I assume I need visa from China, but don't know about other countries.
I will stay at least 6 weeks and maybe until beginning of May.
Where are best spots in SE Asia to relax/unwind/and teach legally (likely just tutoring) for a few months? After a year in Seoul, I'm darn tired of people - so a more rural setting (or at least small cities rather than big) would be my preference.
Everyone I talk to immediately says "Thailand" - but I have the impression that it's Big City all the way, and loaded with foreigners already. I don't know if Cambodia, Malaysia, Vietnam or another country might be a better destination.
Oh, and did I say SURVIVE ON THE CHEAP? I don't expect any teaching to bring me big bucks - just enough money so I'm not spending too much. I'm gonna save every last won I can for the bank back home in North America.
THANKS - oh, and I'm leaving quickly - probably in another week - so fast advice is appreciated.

You need visas for Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, but 'making the loop' is fun, cheap and relatively easy. |

Have fun. I remember after I finished a year in South Korea, I made a beeline for the beaches in Thailand. I kept dreaming about sitting on the beach with the little drinks with umbrellas in them. Don't bother about tutoring. For $1-2/hour it's not worth it. Just enjoy yourself, but not too much, they have laws too. |
