I am in Shanghai until 13th December and hope to find some work in order to cover my living costs. I shall be back in January with a fresh 90 day visa, so I can commit to a reasonable amount of time to any post I find.

At the moment I am doing some hours of english conversation at the Lingo bar and really enjoy the work, however I only get a free meal and ideally I dont want to be eating into my savings until xmas.

Does anyone know of a place that needs someone and would be flexible enough to allow me to go home at xmas (as my flight is already booked). All the ads I have seen and applied to thus far have been for more permanent posts.

Any leads would be appreciated....cheers! Smile

The only type of school that will let you work for a month will be some desperate language mill who screws their teachers over.

Why don't you apply to EF and explain your situation, they might agree to something like this.

Ask mum or dad to wire you some pocket money! Try to get a legal job in the meantime...

You ever seen the film midnight cowboy - find yourself a local Ratso Rizzo - maybe one with less of a limp, and nicer apartment than the film version - and bang. literally a bang, you're in business.
Believe it or not there seems to be a market for lao wai "ducks" - it seems size is also a salable commodity Idea

I've heard some beggars net around 3K a month. Steal some old, soiled clothes, let your beard grow. rub dirt and blood on your face and hands.
Sit by a busy Metro station. Look forlorn. Tears help. Moan. Whimper.

Better yet, rent a filthy kid and put fake, catsup-soaked bandages on his head.
