The market is flooded. Most of the eikaiwas are still accepting applications and interviewing (because that's their job) but then people are waiting for months before getting a placement and actually being in Japan).

Yeah, very true. I just had an interview with James English School. I was told right off the bat that there's this possibility that an opening won't be available until maybe February.

AEON are currently filling places for Jan/Feb 2010 from their interviews last June. ECC and Interac seems to be suggesting placements no earlier than April 2010 and the GEOS website now appears to be in German (!?).

Perhaps your sources were referring to the smaller schools, but even then I would imagine there's going to be some competition.

ECC is currently interviewing for positions beginning Jan-Mar 2010.

Interesting, and as I'd thought - thanks guys. Makes me wonder why a school might make such a claim!

If you hear otherwise, please do update the thread!

Shiori
Unless someone is secure in their current position, it's unlikely that they would post anything that others could use to compete with them for jobs.

Who exactly was it that gave you this dubious information?

Stop trolling. In your context "not picky" means willing to take a 4 hour communte on a train to make noodle money and hopefully your train fare back.

The market is flood, saturated, and students don't have the money to pay for privates.

Shane aren't hiring again until next year in the Kanto region. They actually hired teachers and then had to tell them they had no job in June. I was lucky, I started in April! Just another downside of the credit crunch.
