You will be doing 90 contact hours and 30 admin hours a month? That's 120 total working 6 days a week. For a sum total of $1560. Do the math. Sounds like a great deal for the school and no time for you to pick up any additional work.
Give me a break. |

Whoops! Forgot one thing. Work Permit? How can you have a work permit without out a contract? You can not get a WP legally without a schools sponsorship. WP are not transferable.
So you school wants you to work illegally ? Will they pay your taxes too?
Run as fast as you can! |

That is a lot of hours for netting $1,560 per month.
If, you have a work permit they'll assist you on your visa.
Full year bonus of $200 dollars.
I would not even consider this.
BTW, you have non-esl teachingexperience, certificate, and a degree. |

| dont bother dude. I work less hours than that and earn over $2000 a month. It just takes a little time and effort to find it. Although you're main concern right now is getting a work permit. |

| You could try Vus or ILA. They are two of the biggest language schools in HCMC, that i know of who arrange work permits. Then theres RMIT, Raffles, Apollo, maybe language link and the British council. If i were you i would try to get a job at Vus, its probably your best chance in securing a job straight away. Problem is, things are beginning to slow down now due to christmas and tet holiday, so be quick and good luck!. |

Yeah i agree, nowadays the larger schools are probably your best bet as a newbie. You can find them real easy once you're here. I think it will be relatively easy to find work. But keep us informed, it will be interesting to see how someone goes from arrival to employment.
I'm stoked u were issued a 6 month visa. so that means i can get one from country of origin. |

What does the contract say about grace period of hire. How can you get out of the contract?
I know this organization, I think. They act like they are with some international organization, but really it's just an inside government scam job which uses two seperate signed contracts for payroll purposes.
Take the job, find another, and then quit. Especially since they are not giving you a work permit to start with. Since you already can get this yourself, which I advise, then court other employers once in the city. Like Shaneware said, "it's a piece of cake." Earning $2000 is the least you should accept, and really for 100 hours or less (not 120)! If it's the organization I think it is, they will not count 5 and 10 minute breaks as part of a teaching hour, but rather add it up, so that you are not paid for breaks, and a 5 hour stint, is paid at 4 and a half.
Don't feel bad about the deception --- they would do it to you, and they basically are trying to do that. We don't have a union, or a right to one, so everyone is on their own. |
