Hi,
Do you have any info on Maple Bear schools? I have seen others asking the question but no answers. Also, I spent a half hour in the Search.
Any info would be great.
Thanks

I know that they're based out of Canada, have their own curriculum and seem to franchise. They pay decetly, I think the hours are long. |

hi naturegirl,
thanks...just curious about them. They seem to advertise a lot on the Education Canada website. I'm a newbie and wondering if it would be a good first experince in TEFL.

I think you mean Maple Leaf schools.
My friend and former colleague, who is also an occasional poster on this forum, worked at the Dalian Maple Leaf Foreign Nationals School in northeast China for two years.
It is a joint-venture between Canada (British Columbia, specifically) and China, yet, since he was neither Canadian nor a qualified primary or secondary school teacher, his job as a TESOL practitioner, being the only one at the school open to non-Canadians and non-Chinese, attracted the lowest salary, which was about 11,000 RMB per calendar month.
This was despite the fact that he had taught English as a foreign language for three years at the same state-run primary school in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, that I worked at for one year before coming to my current job.
There is actually a Wuhan-based Maple Leaf school, too, but I have never worked there. |

hey chris, yeah it's Maple Bear, but thanks for the reply..
thanks naturegirl...
there is just not much about them on the net....the website provides names of their curriculum developers who seem to be very experinced and have worked around the world. I think they are all from Canada.
again, thanks for the replies.

You're quite welcome, but I still have to confess that I have never heard of this Maple Bear school that people are speaking of... |
