Ive just realised there are two options on the Diploma front.
Which is the best one to do in terms of recognition and career and content? Trinity Tesol Diploma or the Delta. Discuss.

I have the CELTA, and in applying for positions where a cert is needed, it is the one cited by far more than others. The DELTA is very infrequently cited in the ads I see. Most positions that require advanced quals list a Masters, Appl. Ling, Stateside teachers certification, etc. |

Is the Trinity TESOL Diploma the same level (i.e. a step above a CELTA) as a DELTA? I've never heard of the Trinity TESOL Diploma before so it might be best to go with the most common brand name. |

Yeah, the Trinity version is the same as the DELTA basically .. although DELTA would appear to be offered more widely, and is also better known |

You might want to look at how they compare should you go on to do a masters. I believe that some universities will accept a DELTA as part of the course, which could save you the money/time of doing a module. |

Yes. Offered by Trinity College, London. It is just as legitimate as the DELTA, just not as well known. |

I'm in the same quandary as the OP--I already have a Trinity TESOL Cert., which I was quite happy with, and am considering doing the Dip. at the same school.
Some schools will award credits toward the MA to students who have done the Trinity College Dip as well as the DELTA, for example Canterbury Christ Church (http://www.canterbury.ac.uk/courses/prospectus/postgraduate/courses/TESOL.asp#distance)
Still looking into other places that may do the same...anyone know of others schools that would accept a Diploma as credits for the MA? |

Trinity and DELTA are equally legit, as far as I know and I think most other people would agree. I have not met any Trinity Dip teachers who weren't as capable in the language classroom as DELTA teachers. However, and this info is pure hearsay, the same may not be true of the Trinity Dip trainers. Some Trinity-qualified teachers I work with complained that their trainers had just graduated from the course a few years earlier themselves, and they felt this impacted on the quality of the course the trainers were now delivering. While this may be unfounded sour grapes on my colleagues' part, I have never heard the same about DELTA trainers. Well, apart from the odd troll on the Turkish forum that is.
Anyway, both are quality courses as far as I can see, but I'd opt for the DELTA. In fact I did, and was totally satisfied with it. |

While we are on the subject, are there any schools or countries that require the DipTesol over the DELTA? I have never seen an ad that will only take the Trinity cert. All that require one mention both. |

Yes im interested in working possibly in Libya, maybe Middle east so want to do the most relevant qual for these jobs...the Trinity Diploma seems to be more flexible on the distance learning course ie a few weeks intensive course at end of study, whilst the set up of the DeltaDistance is more complicated, local tutors, travel problems etc... |
