Wall St Inst at KJO, Khafji. All things considered, this job isn't bad for the package. We urgently need one more teacher. Please contact me if you're unsure about applying here or accepting an offer.

Well, that's one person's opinion.

Just a minor gripe here for Malcolm Veitch. It's a bit daft saying 'contact me' about the position, then when someone does, i.e. myself, not getting back to them Confused Maybe ou thought there wasn't any point or something, but perhaps common courtesy might come into the equation....?!

In any event, hope life in Khafji is going along ok for y'all there

Maybe he just doesn't check his account that often. He has exactly one post, and this is the one. I received a reply back from him a couple days later, so maybe he will reply to your pm.

I've had 15 months in Khafji. Contact me if you would like information about the town and conditions for expats in particular.

If you have any marbles lerft, Khafji is a good place to lose them. And I speak with some experience of many wild places in the Kingdom of SA !

Mark is spot on about Khafji. Other than the locals I haven't even met another Saudi who speaks positive about the place. If you don't mind going stir crazy and being treated like a second class citizen then by all means give it a go.

I am bringing my wife. It took some convincing, especially since she is Italian, but hey 2 years in Saudi will put a good down payment on a residence in Salerno or Naples. We will actually be living in Jeddah, as for Khafji, who wouldnt be interested in a place where you will make $45,000 a year unfortunately, it is only for single men.

You will have to resist the consumerist temptations of Jeddah if you want to save. Lots of things to do with your money there ! You may wish that you had gone to Khafji instead !

You should incidentally check out the Italian Club in Baghdadiya. Cultural Centre, Sports Club, restaurant.

I had tried looking up the Italian Club online, but I couldn't get any information. Is it in a hotel?
I have heard the Jeddah is very Western and there are a lot of different things you can spend your money on, which is not good if you are trying to save your money. I am not to overly concerned though, I know how to save money and the last time I checked, spending off days laying on the beach wasn't too expensive Cool Hopefully my wife will be able to find some kind of job in Jeddah and we can have a dual income that will afford us to have a little bit of a life there so when we leave Saudi and people ask us what it was like we can give a more detailed answer then, "It was hot and the compound was nice".

The Italian Club has its own premises just off Hail Street (pronounced Hay-el). There is also an Italian School and they sometimes have vacancies for teachers. A nice little school with classes taught in Italian and English. Our eldest daughter went to KG there when we lived in Jeddah.

For the Italian Club ask a taxi driver. Or phone the Consulate or the Club itself which is listed in the telephone directory.

Someone has been asking about Khafji - without using the 'search' facility or checking previous posts.

Interesting thread.

Other than agreement that Khafji is not the French Riviera, does anyone have any information regarding teaching conditions (hours, materials, co-workers, etc) and students (sharp? thick? pleasant? threatening? comatose? bouncing off the walls?) and other conditions?
