Hi there Lizzie,

Wow you're upset and you seem to have upset a whole lot of peiople on the board...might just be something to ponder. Your obviously a keen teacher, you have alot of queries, who cares if they dont match up to other peoples ideals- but you have to realise that what you ask reveals a whole lot about your personality and outlook.

Anyways I wanted to respond to the resources bit, I'd recommend the following:

Buy yourself three USB sticks (flash drives thingies).

Scan and upload most of your student resources into PDF or word files- this way you can edit them into your own unique resources and upload onto the ubiquitous Smart Boards. (This takes time but is well worth it in the long run, just remember to label all the folders clearly).

Take three to four Teacher grammars, using different approaches

Try looking at the BBC's ESOL/Literacy website- they have excellent online resurces games, and work sheets- htese are available all the time ( great motivating homework).

Another fablous free resource is the DFes ( British ESOL curriculum material) they have really good materials for adults, 'Skills for life'- these are free- I found out about these babies by fluke and haven't looked back. They are fabulous as supplementary work sheets for people who find the general efl materails too much geared toward younger people

I also suggest that you read the Quran and a book called 'What everyone should know about Islam and muslims' Its by ...Haneef. The writer explains thing in a clear matter of fact way- she was previously a practicing Catholic and has written it from two perspectives.

You'll be teaching in one of the most holiest places to muslims so these topics may be best avoided( in my opinion)

1) Religion.
2) Music.
3)Taboos- any current affairs- think Jerry Springers- ABSOLUTE NO- NO.
4) Any direct or indirect prostletising, or pontificating.

Just some ideas- oh and welcome to the Kingdom princess- from one princess to another, and from my high horse I can tell you right now that you CANT let yourself get upset soo quickly sweetie.... keep your posts coming, I personally loved the hairstraightening post- it was well.... umm... illuminating and very very important- stuff the guys they are just jealous ( hair envy). The contraception one was a blast .....but really a case of too much information
