Not to be a clever-clogs, but that was bad grammar. You should have said "Why AREN'T there any gyms in Hanoi?"

I don't think gyms are really a part of Vietnamese culture yet . . .
Most people still do alot of things by hand and this keeps them in shape (though this is rapidly changing and I'm sure gyms will be sprouting up like crazy in the next 10 years).

Anyway, having said that check the major hotels, it will be pricey but some of them should have a gym.

You do mean: Why aren't there any gyms.
Obviously, you are an ESL Teacher in the Far East.

Why do people feel the need to belittle others? Correcting grammar is the lowest form of bullying. Even more so as this was pointed out by someone else a few posts ago so it is obvious you just saw the message title and fired away without even reading it.

To the OP, I can't give you any advice on Hanoi gyms but there are quite a few active bloggers living there who might be able to help. I'll PM you a web address of one who seems to be a fitness fanatic if you are interested. You can then pose the question to them.

Lol, are you serious? Bullying is something kids do at school. Correcting krap grammar is what English teachers do.
