| My ESL student (here in Ontario) needs to get her transcripts and degree translated from Chinese to English. I was wondering you need to get it done through a notary or how exactly it's done. She lives in Hamilton, Ontario and somewhere in that area would be nice. She can translate it herself but I wasn't sure if it needed to be officially translated or something. |

| she'll have to ask the place that is accepting the transcripts. Some places want offical translatiosn, others don't. |

| Thanks. Let's say she needed an official transcript. Where would you go to get one? As far as unofficial, could she just translate herself then? |

I work in the admissions department of a large US university. Our website has specific information for international credentials. If she needs the transcript for a university then maybe she could start with them. We only require a translation but some schools may require a translation and evaluation. I do see a lot of translations/evaluations from WES, Josef Silny, etc. It costs money and can take a while so it is best to start ASAP.
