Hi guys,

I am a 23 year old female who has taken the TEFL here in Barcelona, where I have lived for a few months..turns out jobs were hard to find, and I haven't really been a huge fan of the city either.

I have been to Madrid a couple of times, and love it there...I am thinking instead of going back to California, I should go and try to find somewhere in Madrid.....

Any opinions on people teaching English there, like how they like living there, etc?

Any input would be appreciated!

Hey Mahsa,
I'm, not much help really but I am also thinking baout moving to Madrid in January. From my research it appears to be the best time after Sept to land there. Maybe Mid jan to be exact. There are some jobs there alright but it will be hard. I have plans to go there for a week and ound the streets, hand out cv's etc and see what comes of it.

If part of your problem in finding work in Barcelona was not having an EU passport, I doubt if you'll find it any easier in Madrid...

thanks guys..well EU passport was part, but not most of it..just the lack of positions was the thing, and the overflowing amount of people that were looking for jobs.....

I'm looking at flights/trains to madrid one way, 50/50 on it...either that or flying back to california this week! ack

I'm sure I can find something in Madrid..

Hey Marsha, that's done.
Last night I bought my ticket to Madrid for the 14th of JANUARY. On the other thread I was informed that Madrid only starts again after the first or second week in January. I bought a return ticket a week later just in case. My funds are very low and so I cannot take too crazy a leap of faith. There is always Slovenia, Slovakia etc. Maybe even Estonia. Easier to get wok and are very beautiful. But for now, I will do my best with Madrid. I only have a TEFL (not CELTA or Trinity) so the odds are stacked against me. But, that's the point of an adventure, right?

Carmo - You've got a further problem in that you have likely overstayed your 90 days in the Schengen zone (google it for a list of member countries - Slovakia is one). Meaning you will be illegal upon entry...

You are at risk at any airport after 90 days in the zone....I do hope you're aware of this!!! Penalties are up to a ten year ban on your entering the zone again.

And is it difficult to get a working permit? Does anyone know if there is a market in Estonia?
