Hi everyone,
I am a new guy on here. I have tried searching the forums for information but can't find any. I read all the stuff on EF in China, but what I really want to know is salary range for DOS. I have been offered a positon with a center in Nanjing. I have to go and meet the CM and discuss salary. Does anyone know how much I should be asking for? Also, any info specific to EF in Nanjing? |

If CM = Chinese manager, you'll likely be nothing more than a lackey caught in the middle: despised by the FT's and derided by the CM's. Most of these types of jobs, especially the ones at EF are a lose-lose proposition.
Go to the interview and keep a VERY open mind and ears. I'd start with a figure of 25K/mo. Be certain to ask about benefits and how much teaching you'd be doing. Ask why the job is vacant and what happened to the last poor soul; see if they'll give you his/her email. Their answers should tell you a lot. |

They may offer you as little as 9k a month plus an apartment.
You should ask for about 15k, but there's a strong chance they won't be prepared to go anywhere near that figure. If they won't pay you what you're worth, (or you're not worth that much) then beware.
Frankly, there's more important things you should concern yourself with than the pay, chiefly will you have control and a veto on teacher appointments, why none of the current teachers wants to become a DOS (if they do you've got a problem from the start), getting your 2 days off concurrent and generally ensuring that you're going into a situaton where you can succeed, but for sure money's important as well, and presumably you're not an idiot (though neither applying for nor being offered an EF DOS post automatically exclude you from that classification) and you should take an 'I'm worth it attitude |

Thanks for the info. Has anyone heard or know anything about EF centers in Nanjing? I don't want to end up being another casualty. |
