				| Hi everyone, I am going to be teaching English in Fukuchiyama City in Kyoto Prefecture starting mid January..if anyone in the area wants to show me around that would be great.
I am curious as to if I can just buy a car from Auction, drive to my local mechanic and get it ready to be registered and register it or do I have to by from a dealer who has the car ready to go.

I plan to buy a car and own it in Japan for 12+ months so I can import it to Australia as a personal import. I would love some information about the process from someone who has done this before and did you do it all yourself or did you get help from a professional?

For a personal import I am required to prove I have owned and used the car for at least 12 months in Japan but on my international Australian drivers licence i can only drive in Japan for 12 months so is it a simple process to get few extra months like eye test or will I have to go through the whole Japanese testing procedure

 Cheers

				| Hi Greg,
I had a car in Japan that I brought back to Australia with me when I came. Over the years that I lived in Japan I owned 4 different cars and purchased them all through different types of places. I can give you the scoop on that.

I also started out on an international licence and got a Japanese licence later.

If you want some info about the whole process send me a PM. It sounds like you're in Australia still at the moment so maybe we can just talk on the phone about it.

 Cheers

 Stella
