|
|
I found this in a job advert placed by a company called Fifth Wings, Inc on Dave's ESL Cafe International Job Board:
Quote: |
VISA: Fifth provides full visa sponsorship. Visa cost will be reimbursed upon completion of the one-year contract. |
(The advert is at http://www.eslcafe.com/joblist/index.cgi?read=20523.)
That seems a bit unusual. Does it mean they expect me to organise the visa myself? Or are they trying to get some kind of "loyalty deposit" out of me?
Whoever they are, Fifth Wings keep a low profile. I can't find anything useful on Google. Has anyone had prior dealings with them? |

Ignore it. The "visa costs" amount to a whopping US$40. If you can't arrange that yourself, you're in serious debt. Besides, they have to submit paperwork along with you to get a visa issued to you, so you're not going to do it alone. |

$40 if you submit your COE for processing in Japan. 5 if you are living and submitting in the UK. I believe its free to submit in other countries.
But in anycase you are the one who pays the processing fee (if there is one) when you take your COE to the embassy/consulate/immigration to get the visa stamp in your passport, not the company. I don't believe they pay anything to submit your COE application.
How much are they asking for anyway? |

Thanks for the advice.
I don't know how much they're asking. I've sent them my resume, so I'll report back if / when they tell me more. |

I knew that US citizens (along with a huge list of citizens from other countries) don't have to pay when they process in the UK. I just checked on the US site. A working instructors visa in the US for a US citizen is free at the moment, although they revise the fees every April. So it might have been $35 when you did it, but it's free for now. |
