Hello all. Like many, I'm sure, I have a pipe dream that I hope can become reality. There are many reasons why I want to teach abroad, and some are mutually exclusive. But one of them is my dream to live in a "tropical paradise". I love the ocean, with clear, blue water and warm wheather. I know that parts of southern Thailand and Indonesia fit this description, but I was hoping for some more specific input from you all. The problem I assume is that where such places exist, there is an over abundence of teachers who want to live there, or it is too expensive. I am new to all this, so don't really know what I am talking about. I would appreciate some suggestions as to where I could teach specifically. Thx. |

there could/would be places in SoKo that would work - but you are better off on the korean boards to pursue any discussions related to there.
Cheju/Jeju or Koje Islands would meet many of the criteria you have set, but I would still consider them semi-tropical & semi-paradise unless you remain flexible.
Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, possibly little bits of Cambodia - there are others, I'm sure. More of it depends on you.
Best of luck!!! |

I don't think there is anything tropical about any part of South Korea. There is a temperate climate here. Even Jeju, the southern-most island, gets snow from time to time. I live 30 minutes from Geoje and it's not too tropical either, unless you count the summer as tropical.
OP, maybe Indonesia, Malaysia, Borneo? |
