I've been told that to take a government job, they may require the "carta de antecedentes no penales". It's not cheap, but there is a company that will run it down for you, and get it to you relatively quickly, they claim.

Cost is 1,275 pesos. They say to expect it to take 15 days.

What government jobs?

Just wondering...

Most are reserved for Mexicans.

Prof G, it's just a teaching job, and it turns out they didn't need the "Carta" after all (at least, that's what they're telling me, now); but, they did need a Constancia that said I'd never committed a crime involving a violation of trust, while holding a government position. I'll keep you posted.

As for the "Carta," thanks to another poster I discovered I could apply for one directly, through the Procuradora de Justicia del Estado, at their offices, here, and it would cost just 115 pesos.

These documents appear to be popular: there was a line of at least 75 people to apply for one, when I went this AM to check out the details.
